Who can participate in the project?

Anyone with a smartphone or computer and internet access can participate. All you need to do is download the spotFIRE app, register, and start reporting forest fire events and forest fuel data.

Your participation helps improve wildfire monitoring and response, contributing to community safety and environmental protection. You also gain knowledge about wildfire behavior and prevention.

Participation is simple:

  • Download the spotFIRE app from the App Store or Google Play.
  • Register an account
  • Report any forest fire events or fuel data information through the app.
  • View and interact with reports on the app

Yes, you can submit data from any location globally.

Your data contributions are displayed on an interactive map and can be viewed by anyone. The raw data can only be viewed by people with administrative rights and are stored on the servers of the Citizen Science Platform SPOTTERON.

Personal data is kept confidential and is not shared with third parties.

All you need is a smartphone. You also can upload a spot with your web browser after taking photos of your observation in the field.

Yes, your personal information is kept secure and private. We follow strict data protection guidelines and do not share personal data with third parties.

You can still record the sighting on the app offline as a draft and save it as a waiting spot. Once you regain internet access, you can check it again and upload it from the waiting spot section.
